UK 101, 201 Peer Instructor Applications Deadline Approaching

Are you looking for a way to get involved on campus?

UK 101 and UK 201 (www.uky.edu/UK101) are one-credit hour academic orientation courses for freshmen and transfer students co-taught by a faculty member and a student peer instructor. They are both offered during the first 10 weeks of the fall semester. Specific goals of UK 101 include helping students to understand the nature of a college education, acquire skills for achieving academic success, increase awareness and use of University resources, and experience small group interaction with their peers, a faculty member, and a student peer instructor.

Peer Instructors are an essential component of UK 101 and UK 201. Responsibilities include assisting the faculty instructor, teaching class sessions, and interacting with the students during in-class and out-of-class activities. Much more information about the role of Peer Instructors can be found online at http://www.uky.edu/StudentAffairs/NewStudentPrograms/UK101/pdf/rolePeerInstructors.pdf.

We want leaders who are enthusiastic and eager to assist these new students with their transition into the Kentucky family. A PDF version of the application is attached to this e-mail. You can also download it at http://www.uky.edu/StudentAffairs/NewStudentPrograms/leadership.html. Applications are due at 4:30 p.m. on March 9, 2012 in 567 Patterson Office Tower.
